Celebrating 30 Years of TMP!
Tosco Music Parties started in the Tosco family living room in the mid-1980’s, and soon became organized with songbooks and printed lyrics. “In 1989, we had a few friends over for an evening of music...” reads the opening letter from the first TMP songbook (second picture above - select the grey dots to scroll through the gallery).
As word spread, “Tosco’s having another music party”, we made room for old friends and new at outdoor parks, apartment clubhouses, then rented venues like the Great Aunt Stella Center (1998), McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square (2002), and Halton Theater at CPCC (2007) - shown here in reverse order.
In 2014, Tosco Music moved to our current home in the beautiful Knight Theater at Levine Avenue of the Arts. September marks 22 TMP’s in this 1,200-seat hall, 30 years after those earliest living room gatherings.
Thousands of people, performers, volunteers and audience alike, have been part of this uniquely-Charlotte story over the past three decades. See the full history timeline here.
While TMP's have grown over the years, our core value remains the same - it's all about the music!
